The southern right whale can be distinguished from other whales by its V-shaped 'blow' and the callosities which appear on and around its head.

To hear a whale 'blow' is like hearing the breath of life. The blow is a cloud of vapour produced largely by condensation when warm breath comes into contact with cooler air.
Kleinmond has grown from a holiday destination to a vibrant little town. This is no surprise as it has beautiful beaches (Kleinmond Main Beach repeatedly obtains Blue Flag status), a lagoon, wonderful hikes and walks as well as mouthwatering restaurants.
Harbour Road is the place to be.  There are the cutest little shops, art galleries and craft stores and the seafood restaurants serve the freshest fish in town. Taking a stroll around here makes you feel like you are on the set of a movie.

There is something for everybody in Kleinmond. Arabella Spa is a 10 minute drive from Kleinmond where a day of steam baths, massages and general pampering can be enjoyed. It also boasts one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country. Kleinmond's water activities are endless ranging from canoeing down the rivers, swimming in the lagoon to angling in the ocean. The hikes and mountain trails are awesome. Don't feel like climbing a mountain? Why not climb the Silversands Dune and spend the day sand-boarding? Kleinmond must be the only town in the world which has a penguin colony as well as wetlands where feral horses roam free within driving distance.
